Good morning, my lovelies,
Today the fantastic Georgeann Swiger has dropped by to have a chat with us. Georgeann’s 5* star YA debut, Adorned, was released on November 4th. If you haven’t checked it out yet, do it! Do it now…we’ll wait…
Welcome back! And now, without further ado, I give you the lovely Georgeann…
Fill in the blank. I wish I could_____________.
If I had to choose one ‘I wish I could’, it would be: I wish I could coin a popular new word.
Unless you’re a rapper or Google, Facebook or Twitter, your chance of coining a brand new word that’s shared like a smokin’ hot selfie is about as likely as finding a 1969-S Lincoln Cent with a Doubled Die Obverse.
Approximate Value: Around $35,000 or more in EF-40 or so.
Yeah! So, now not only am I now trying to come up with a new word for the dictionary, I’m digging through my change looking for one of these.
Lucky thing, I’m a writer because I’ve discovered the next best thing to coining a new word: adding made up words to a story. Maybe no one will ever use these words in everyday conversation or none of the editors at Merriam-Webster will come knocking wanting to add them to the dictionary, but at least I’ve created some words that no one has ever heard or spoken.
So, if you got a minute I would appreciate if you would say these words out loud or if the fancy strikes you, throw them into a conversation or blog post to help make my wish come true.
- Rowzickle-angelic language meaning sacred, beautiful, adorned.
- Sha shaun la roush-a phrase praising the angels of the Pashcar.
- Coofuck-be free.
Yeah, I know, reading them out of context, they look like gibberish. But I’m certain readers of Adorned will understand them. And if I’m really lucky *fingers crossed*, they’ll toss them around like Fo’ shizzle or twerking.
A girl can only hope.
Now it’s your turn to fill in the blank. I wish I could ______.
