With that kind of pressure, it's no wonder women have become conditioned to harshly critique their bodies. But this year, at least one top magazine took a first step against that kind of body shaming. Instead, the magazine continues to impress upon its readers the importance of a healthier lifestyle, but it doesn't have to come in a size 2 package.
But there are some downright shameful and disgraceful aspects of fitness based marketing that needs to be brought to the forefront. Lets quit treating female clients like delicate little flowers that are only capable of executing sets of with pink dumbbells as toning resistance. This notion is incredibly insulting. Women are strong and have unlimited physical potential that deserves to be tapped into. Toning is for printers, not strength training. There are truly no natural images of females out there anymore.
Fast forward to and we have a wealth of social media platforms, our phones can make videos, take photographs and connect us to the entire world through the internet, and every other person in the fitness industry describes themselves as a fitness model! I see young women coming into the industry, eager to get noticed, and falling into a trap. There are amazing opportunities and ways to develop a career in the fitness industry.
