Victoria, BC, Canada. British Columbia's capital city, Victoria, is located on the southernmost tip of spectacular Vancouver Island, just a short Helijet, floatplane, catamaran or commercial flight from BC's lower mainland region, Metro Vancouver, and Washington State. You can also reach this delightful, cosmopolitan island destination via car, coach, ferry, international flight, or even as part of an incredible whale watching adventure from downtown Vancouver. Victoria is known for its old-world charm, decidedly British flavour, world-class hotels, decadent dining, wine, seafood, and some of the best microbreweries on the west coast. The dramatic architecture surrounding the world-famous Inner Harbour, designed by Francis Rattenbury near the turn of the 19th century, include the magnificent BC Legislative Buildings, the Crystal Garden, and the renowned Fairmont Empress Hotel.
Through our newsletter and occasional worship services on gay issues, our members are kept informed about homophobia. We have an active Diversity Team to encourage the congregation to be open and welcoming to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex persons, and promote the cause of LGBTI equality in the wider community. There is also a small section of books about GLBT matters in our library. Later that year, a Welcoming Congregation Committee was formed to further the objectives of the task force and these policies and guidelines were suggested for it:. We seek to build a congregation and a society made whole by the empowerment of all.
We encourage our community to make informed choices about their own sexual practices and wellness. Sex education to reduce HIV, hepatitis C and other sexually transmitted infections is part of our mission. It is paired with the cultivation of attitudes and behaviours that support safe, strong and stable foundations for sexual health and wellbeing. We are working hard to create new and exciting programing in a community near you! Skip to main content.
